What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Sales Associate – Fabric Store position at Boho Fabrics?
We're looking for friendly, dependable Seasonal Retail Sales Associates who love to sew and enjoy helping others! At Boho Fabrics, you'll work with beautiful fabrics, sewing supplies, and Janome and Elna sewing machines. Our store is also home to the Design Studio, where we offer sewing classes and workshops.
We're a small, creative team, so no two days are exactly alike! Basic sewing experience, comfort with technology, and availability to work at least two Saturdays per month are required.
These are part-time seasonal positions for the holiday season, with the possibility of continuing in a permanent part-time role after the holidays.
What You'll Do
- Help Customers: Welcome shoppers, answer questions, and help them choose fabrics, patterns, notions, sewing machines, and other supplies for their projects.
- Share Your Sewing Knowledge: Use your own sewing experience to help customers find the right materials and offer helpful suggestions.
- Keep the Store Looking Great: Restock fabrics and notions, organize displays, and keep our shop inviting and easy to browse.
- Help with Online Orders: Assist with cutting fabric, packaging orders, and preparing shipments for our online customers.
- Capture New Arrivals: Use our iPad or a smartphone to take photos and short videos of new fabrics, sewing machines, and other products to share with our marketing team.
- Handle Sales: Ring up purchases, process returns, and assist customers at checkout.
- Pitch In Where Needed: We're a small business, so everyone helps out! This might mean unpacking shipments, organizing inventory, or lending a hand with other daily tasks.
What We're Looking For
The Must-Haves:
- Hands-on sewing experience is required. You don't need to be a professional, but you should be familiar with basic sewing terminology, fabrics, and supplies.
- Availability to work at least two Saturdays per month is required.
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and everyday technology, including taking photos, recording short videos, and sharing files independently.
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable talking with customers.
- Dependable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Previous retail or customer service experience.
- Experience with garment sewing, quilting, or other sewing projects.
- Familiarity with sewing machines, sergers, and different types of fabrics.
- Experience with Shopify or other point-of-sale systems.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
