Junior Accountant (Hybrid/Remote)

We are looking for a meticulous Accountant with hands-on experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable to join our expanding team. This role offers an outstanding opportunity for an early-career accounting professional motivated to develop their skills, progress into overseeing diverse financial operations, and collaborate closely with leadership in a supportive, relationship-driven environment.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will initially be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, with a focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable. Over time, the responsibilities will expand to include payroll processing, insurance audits, and employee benefits plan administration. Additionally, the role will involve performing financial reconciliations, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and developing process improvements to sustain the company's ongoing growth.

This full-time, on-site role is based in our Annapolis corporate office and follows a standard Monday-through-Friday schedule. Upon reaching the 90-day milestone, we will conduct a performance evaluation to explore the possibility of a hybrid arrangement allowing up to 2 days of remote work each week.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Process a high volume of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the general ledger
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts
• Coordinate and complete required insurance audits
• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
• Administer employee benefits, including the company's 401(k) plan
• Prepare accurate financial reports and statements for company leadership
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and office procedures
• Assist with special projects and financial analysis as assigned

Necessary Experience & Skills

• At least two years of professional experience in accounting
• Familiarity with the construction industry, with residential strongly preferred
• Experience managing high-volume accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Strong proficiency in using QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
• Strong understanding of GAPP
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive annual salary of $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience
