The Winter Snowmaking Operator safely and efficiently operates snowmaking equipment to provide a high-quality snow product for Bogus Basin guests.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Winter Snowmaking Operator, you will ensure snowmaking equipment is set up, maintained, and operated efficiently and safely. Your work supports excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions and directly contributes to a positive guest experience.
A Day in the Life
You’ll begin your night shift by setting up fan guns and checking air and water hydrants. You’ll operate snowmaking equipment and snowmobiles, maintain hoses and tools, and monitor conditions to ensure the highest-quality snow. By the end of your shift, your efforts will have contributed to a world-class mountain experience for Bogus Basin guests.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward guests and staff.
- Provide accurate updates and support a safe, high-quality mountain experience.
Operational Support
- Set up fan snowmaking guns.
- Check and adjust air and water hydrants regularly to maintain snow quality.
- Operate snowmobiles towing snowmaking equipment or pulling hoses.
- Hook up and clean out snowmaking hoses and equipment.
- Relocate snowmaking equipment to various locations on the mountain as needed.
- Maintain clean and operating snowmaking equipment.
- Ensure safety requirements are met and adhered to at all times.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
What You Bring
- Passion for Bogus Basin’s mission.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to work long hours at night in harsh outdoor mountain environments with variable weather conditions.
- Ability to respond appropriately to verbal and written directions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous snowmaking and snowmobile operation experience preferred.
- Ability to perform outdoor night work in winter mountain conditions.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift, pull, and drive.
- Must be able to use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, ice chippers, hand picks, and steel spud bars (15 lbs).
- Must be able to repeatedly lift and/or drag 100 pounds or more.
- Employees must provide sufficient clothing for warmth in winter conditions, gloves in good repair, and pac boots in good repair.
Working Conditions
- Outdoor environment; exposed to inclement weather and adverse conditions.
- May be exposed to smoke, dust, fumes, and odors.
- Vibration and noise are present in the work environment.
- Seasonal position requiring night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
