Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Laborer plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations across multiple production areas, including bagging, crushing, drying, and railcar loading/offloading. This position is responsible for operating equipment safely, maintaining production flow, and ensuring product quality through accurate documentation and sample collection. Employees must adhere to strict safety protocols, perform routine inspections, and assist with material handling to keep operations efficient and compliant. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
Bag Production
- Operate bagging equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transfer bags from conveyor to pallet, preventing product backup.
- Complete production sheets accurately.
- Stencil customer-specific information onto bags or sacks.
- Clean bins before and after use.
- Operate front-end loader to fill hopper.
- Collect and label required customer samples.
Crushing Production
- Safely operate yard truck for material hauling.
- Operate crushing equipment in compliance with safety standards.
- Remove scrap metal and debris from scrap bins.
- Perform pre- and post-shift inspections and lubrication as needed.
- Complete crusher documentation, including inspection and production sheets.
Dryer Production
- Maintain hopper bin levels for continuous drying.
- Remove finished product to prevent contamination between bins.
- Clear dumped product from pads to avoid overflow and road blockage.
- Conduct shift inspections and greasing as required.
- Complete dryer documentation accurately.
- Manage dust removal and ensure bags are sealed and removed promptly.
- Collect and label shift samples.
Railcar Operations (Loading and Offloading)
- Operate Trackmobile safely and efficiently.
- Perform safe offloading procedures on outdoor equipment and railcars.
- Operate yard truck and loader for material handling.
- Empty dust collection bins after railcar completion.
- Collect and label samples from loaded/offloaded cars.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating equipment.
- Attention to detail for accurate documentation and labeling.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
- Able to stoop, kneel, push, pull, twist and lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Walk on uneven surfaces/unpaved ground.
- Capable of working at heights up to 15 feet on top of railcars.
- 20/20 vision with corrective lenses if necessary.
Work Environment
- This position involves working in a production manufacturing setting, including outdoor open-air buildings.
- Conditions are dusty and dirty, requiring adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to the start date. A physical examination must be completed within six (6) weeks of the employee’s start date to confirm ability to meet job-related physical demands.
