Job Overview
Boerne Veterinary Clinic is seeking to hire a veterinary technician to join our wonderful team. LVT, CVT, and/or previous experience as a veterinary technician is preferred. This is a full-time position. Our veterinary technicians are trained in proper restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, digital and dental x-ray positioning, and anesthesia monitoring.
Boerne Veterinary Clinic is a cutting-edge small animal general practice with a fun, family-oriented environment and we pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere and wonderful clientele. We are a four doctor practice with state of the art equipment such as in house blood machines, digital radiology, digital dental radiology, and ultrasound. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Prepare animals for imaging procedures such as X-ray and assist with radiography.
- Maintain detailed records of patient care, treatments, and laboratory results.
- Provide pet grooming, pet care advice, and basic dog training to clients.
- Manage kennel duties including animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring health status.
- Assist with animal catheterization and other specialized veterinary tasks.
- Support client education on animal physiology, anatomy, and general pet care practices.
Qualifications
- Previous kennel experience or veterinary technician experience preferred.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
- Experience with laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging such as X-ray is advantageous.
- Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, and pet care techniques.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to veterinary dentistry is a plus.
- Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for client education on pet health topics.
