Boeing Global Services is currently seeking a Lead-level Structural Analysis Engineer to become part of the Complex Spares Strength Engineering team in Hazelwood, Mo.

The Complex Spares Strength Engineering team is responsible for supporting new source stand up, repairs and production of spare Legacy Hornet Flight Control Surfaces, as well as ensuring the structural integrity of the components.  It is also responsible for growing our business into more opportunities for F/A-18 E/F components.

The selected candidate will provide coaching for skills development of our Structural Analysis Team members, ensuring our team remains vibrant and highly skilled. The selected candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced, diverse work environment. Team members will work with cross-functional teams including representatives from Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Liaison Engineering, Technical Integration, Supplier Management, Production Operations, and Program Management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stress analyses of aircraft primary structures using well defined analysis tools.
  •  Verification of structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to develop and maintain the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Development of test plans and configurations, support test execution and analyses/reports to validate systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Support Configuration Control Board and Engineering Review Board as a Strength Engineering Lead.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and technical oversight to other Structural Analysis Engineers.
  • Provide technical direction for proposal preparation and new business development efforts.
  • Support ongoing supplier and customer activities providing real-time support.
  • Works under minimal direction.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Hybrid:

This Hybrid position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options (Hazelwood, MO).This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 5 years’ experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools. 
  • Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, Mechanica, etc.
  • 7 years’ experience in structural analysis.
  • 7 years’ experience structural design principles for aircraft primary structure (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).
  • 3 years’ experience leading or managing aircraft structures or stress analysis teams.
  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14 years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years’ experience leading or managing aircraft structures or stress analysis teams.
  • 3 years’ experience with design and analysis of high modulus composites.
  • 3 years’ experience with composites design and processing.
  • Experience in post-production systems with emphasis in military aircraft sustainment, repairs, and modification programs.
  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance.
  • 3 years’ experience with F/A-18 experience.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD 4 years' related work experience, Master 7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $115,600 - $156,400
