The preferred candidate is a Licensed Massage Therapist with a minimum of three years of practical experience. The candidate holds an active license in massage therapy and may also hold an Associate’s degree or higher. The candidate possesses excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, and can maintain confidentiality of protected information. The ability to work flexible hours (morning, evening, and weekend) is essential. One year of teaching experience is preferred, or the ability to join our next Massage Therapy Instructor training on Zoom within the first year of employment (at no cost to the employee). Maintaining a current massage practice, to bring relevance into the classroom is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Instructor is responsible to know, understand, and be able to deliver their assigned courses in Bodymechanics curriculum, as designed and implemented by the President. The Instructor gives lectures, provides demonstrations, and plans and oversees classroom activities. Tests are administered to make sure that students comprehend the material, and effective feedback is given to each student with specific advice in areas that need improvement. Other tasks include keeping record of student progress, attendance, and performance, and reporting those items to the Campus Coordinator.
Required duties include, but are not limited to:
Maintain compliance with all school policies and procedures
Deliver the Bodymechanics curriculum as written
Monitor and report on student attendance and progress
Direct students in the proper safety, sanitation, and maintenance of classroom equipment
Provide tutoring for required make-up sessions, as assigned by the Director
Actively scout for teaching assistants in the current student body
Participate in community outreach events, career fairs, etc., as approved by the President
Additional requirements for specific courses:
Massage Theory and Practice Instructors have a strong knowledge of massage therapy instruction and practice, and deliver courses on massage strokes, mechanical and reflexive effects, hygiene, sanitation, self-care, body mechanics, history of massage, and boundaries.
Reports to: Regional Director or Campus Manager, with additional reporting to the President when requested
Work Hours and Physical Demands
Educational delivery is fast-paced and challenging, and can be stressful at times. The position requires frequent physical mobility throughout the campus. Course schedules and assignments may vary by campus and by cohort, and are determined by the Regional Director.
Instructor Pay:
Beginning pay is $25/hour. Pay increases to $28/hour once the instructor completes the Massage Therapy Instructor training course.
