Job Role:
The Production Planner is responsible for executing the company’s demand plan by negotiating competitive pricing, placing purchase orders, and managing relationships with contracted manufacturers. This role ensures timely production and delivery of goods while optimizing costs to improve company margins. Success in this position is measured by the ability to reduce purchase order costs without compromising quality or timelines, directly contributing to profitability and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate possesses excellent analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and relevant planning experience in e-commerce, wholesale, or manufacturing settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate Pricing: Secure competitive pricing from contracted manufacturers to maximize company margins.
- Purchase Order Management: Create and manage purchase orders based on the demand plan provided by the Demand Planner.
- Supplier Coordination: Ensure contracted manufacturers meet production schedules and deliver on time.
- Cost Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or timelines.
- Production Monitoring: Track order status, resolve delays, and escalate issues to maintain supply chain efficiency.
- Data Accuracy: Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, pricing agreements, and production timelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Demand Planning, Finance, and Operations teams to align procurement activities with business goals.
- Performance Reporting: Provide regular updates on cost savings, supplier performance, and production timelines.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience in production planning, procurement, or supply chain operations
- Strong negotiation and cost-management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical mindset with ability to interpret demand plans and translate into actionable purchase orders.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams and with external partners.
- Experience working with contracted manufacturers in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and cost optimization strategies.
Language Skills:
Must speak English. Must have solid written and verbal communication skills, ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills, and commitment to working with a diverse staff are essential to successful carry out the duties of this position. Excellent ability to communicate. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, one will be sitting for 4 hours at a time, lifting up to 50lbs, moving around the office to coordinate with other team members.
