What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist position at Body Politic Physical Therapist?
Part-Time Physical Therapist
Private Practice · One-on-One Care · Flexible Hours
About the Role
We are a private physical therapy practice built on a simple philosophy: every patient deserves a listening ear and a higher level of healthcare. We are seeking a part-time Physical Therapist who shares this vision and is ready to bring exceptional skill, warmth, and dedication to a one-on-one treatment environment.
This is not a high-volume, assembly-line clinic. Every session is a full, focused hour with one patient. Evaluations are 90 minutes. You will have the time and space to truly listen, assess thoroughly, and design meaningful treatment, the way physical therapy was meant to be practiced.
We believe that great care starts with a strong foundation. That's why every new team member enters a structured mentorship program designed to set you up for success in our unique practice model. You'll engage in weekly training sessions, collaborative case reviews, and hands-on co-treatments alongside an experienced mentor who is genuinely invested in your growth.
We want to be upfront about compensation: pay is structured on a per-patient basis for treatment sessions. Time spent in mentorship and onboarding falls outside of billable hours and is compensated differently, at $17/hour. However, we've intentionally kept this period focused and efficient, so your time is respected.
What You'll Do
- Conduct 90-minute initial evaluations with new patients, performing thorough assessments to identify root causes of dysfunction
- Deliver 60-minute one-on-one treatment sessions with zero overlap or split attention
- Apply advanced manual therapy techniques and neuromuscular re-education to drive meaningful, lasting recovery
- Educate patients with clarity and confidence, helping them understand their bodies, their condition, and their path to recovery
- Observe, with mastery, therapeutic exercises and provide purposeful cueing to retrain movement
- Maintain patient records, progress notes, and documentation with accuracy and professionalism
- Respond to phone calls, texts, and emails to onboard new patients and ensure a seamless intake experience
- Participate actively in business development, administrative tasks, and marketing initiatives to help grow the practice
- Contribute ideas and energy to building a practice culture that patients love and trust
Schedule & Structure
This is a part-time position with genuinely flexible scheduling. We understand that the right candidate may have other professional or personal commitments, and we are committed to building a schedule that works for both sides. Available appointment times include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and even some daytimes, making this an excellent fit for clinicians seeking supplemental work or a meaningful part-time role.
Who We're Looking For
Clinical Expertise
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) in good standing with the California Physical Therapy Board
- Demonstrated experience in a private, one-on-one or cash-based PT setting. This model will feel familiar, not foreign
- Strong manual therapy skills: hands-on techniques are central to how we treat
- Advanced neuromuscular education and movement re-education skills
- Knowledge of holistic physical therapy principles and integrative approaches to the body
- Ability to identify and treat root causes rather than chasing isolated symptoms
Communication & Teaching
- A natural teacher who can break down complex concepts so patients genuinely understand what is happening in their bodies
- Excellent verbal and written communication, patient, clear, and never condescending
- Comfortable communicating via phone, text, and email to coordinate care and answer patient questions
Character & Culture Fit
- Deeply compassionate and patient-centered. You genuinely care about the people you treat
- Warm, approachable, and easy to be around. Patients should leave every session feeling heard, respected, and motivated
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial, willing to help on the business side of a small practice
- Reliable, responsive, and professional in all communications
- Passionate about practicing the kind of physical therapy you'd want for yourself or your family
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cash-pay, concierge, or direct-access physical therapy models
- Certifications in manual therapy, functional movement, or related specialty areas
- Background in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, or chronic pain management
- Familiarity with EMR/scheduling software and basic practice operations
If you are a skilled, caring clinician who wants to practice physical therapy with intention, where the relationship with your patient matters as much as the technique, we want to meet you.
