Assistant Teacher (Preschool / Early Childhood)

Job Summary
Boca Grande Preschool is looking for a caring, reliable Assistant Teacher who enjoys working with young children and helping them grow in a safe, nurturing classroom environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education, childcare, and preschool learning.

The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to support classroom activities, supervise children, and help implement our research-based Experience Curriculum®.

We welcome applicants who are patient, energetic, and excited to actively engage with children throughout the day.

This position will start at our temporary location in Englewood, and continue on Boca Grande when we return to the island.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Lead Teacher with preschool lesson plans and classroom activities
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom
• Actively supervise children and maintain proper child-to-staff ratios
• Assist children with meals, toileting, and nap time routines
• Provide positive guidance and behavior support
• Assist with outdoor play and learning activities
• Help maintain attendance records and daily reports
• Communicate professionally with parents and staff
• Serve as a floater or substitute teacher when needed
• Attend required staff meetings and training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass FDLE Level II Background Screening
• Ability to complete 45 hours of DCF Childcare Training within 1 year of hire
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Patient, nurturing, and dependable personality
• Interest in early childhood development
• Ability to work well in a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.50 per hour
