What are the responsibilities and job description for the Skilled Laborer position at Boca Chica Construction?
Looking for a skilled laborer.
Responsibilities
- Assist with trenching, bedding, pipe installation, backfill, and compaction.
- Use shovels, digging bars, reciprocating saws, grinders, and other construction tools.
- Use oxygen/acetylene torches to cut steel and metal components.
- Operate gas-powered cut-off saws to cut concrete, asphalt, and metal using appropriate blades.
- Operate jumping jacks, plate compactors, and jack hammers.
- Perform hand excavation around existing utilities.
- Assist with demolition, concrete removal, and debris cleanup.
- Help check grades and elevations using lasers and grade rods.
- Spot equipment and communicate clearly with operators.
- Load, unload, and organize tools and materials.
- Follow site safety requirements and report unsafe conditions.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on construction experience.
- Experience using power tools and compaction equipment.
- Experience safely using oxygen/acetylene torches and gas-powered cut-off saws.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete work accurately.
- Ability to perform physical work outdoors.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Willingness to assist with different tasks as needed.
OSHA training is a plus.
