Position Overview: The Café Associate assists customers by taking orders, serving specialty coffees and baked goods, and checking in with customers while maintaining a clean dining area for guests.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensures customers are timely greeted and kindly welcomed.
- Recommend, select, and help customers with menu options based on customer needs and desires.
- Share product knowledge enthusiastically and accurately to elevate service and increase sales.
- Operate cash register with a high level of accuracy.
- Takes accurate orders in a timely manner.
- Stock shelves and insures proper merchandise rotation.
- Ensure beverage/food/merchandise is properly tagged, stickered, and displayed.
- Must remain friendly and service oriented, even during times of long lines and high traffic.
- Ensure a clean, organized, safe, and respectful environment for guests and employees.
- Cleans and restock workstations/ beverage stations and ensure all equipment is sanitized.
- Maintain a clean and organized store/restaurant/coffee area.
- Engage customers in a sincere, friendly and professional manner, asking about their drink/food preferences, making suggestions when appropriate while noting allergies.
- Confront and resolve difficult situations in a proactive, objective, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
- Ensures that the company’s brand is properly reflected by keeping a well maintained, clean, well-organized and stocked counter and food window area.
- Embrace change by being open to new ideas.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, peers, management, and the general public.
- Maintains knowledge on all Bob’s Red Mill offerings and confidently and accurately communicating that knowledge to customers.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe and food-safe manner.
- Complies with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Be willing to assist in other departments as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Possesses knowledge of safe food-handling procedures, sanitary cooking conditions, proper hand washing techniques and rules for securing hair.
- Ability to move quickly and work in a fast paced environment.
- Demonstrates proper organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate required
- 1 year of experience in a fast paced specialty coffee environment preferred.
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must be able to obtain an OLCC service permit.
Physical Demands:
- Position routinely requires walking or standing for long periods up to 2 hours at a time
- Position requires ability to bend, squat and climb stairs frequently with a serving tray.
- Position requires the ability to lift up to 50lb
Work Environment:
- The primary work environment for this position is within the restaurant and outdoor seating area as weather permits.
- Employees will be exposed to common food allergens.
