Bob Freesen YMCA Groundskeeper
Position Summary: The Groundskeeper supports the Bob Freesen YMCA by maintaining safe, attractive, and welcoming outdoor spaces for members, program participants, staff, and guests. This position is responsible for routine grounds care, beautification projects, and athletic field maintenance, while also assisting with indoor maintenance needs during colder months.
Reports To: Property Director. The Property Director will provide daily and weekly task priorities based on the needs of the facility, grounds, and programs.
Schedule and Hours: This role is scheduled for a maximum of 35-40 paid hours per week. Hours may vary based on seasonal needs, weather conditions, facility priorities, and scheduled YMCA programs or events.
Compensation: The Groundskeeper will be paid at the current rate of $18.00 per hour.
Seasonal Focus: During the summer months, most hours will be spent outdoors maintaining the grounds, completing beautification projects, and preparing outdoor program areas. During the winter months, most hours will be spent indoors assisting with general maintenance tasks as assigned by the Property Director.
Key Responsibilities:
· Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawn areas throughout the YMCA property.
· Support beautification projects, including planting, mulching, cleanup, and general landscape improvements.
· Maintain softball fields and related outdoor program areas, including field preparation, cleanup, and basic upkeep.
· Inspect grounds regularly and report safety concerns, needed repairs, or equipment issues to the Property Director.
· Operate and care for groundskeeping tools and equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
· Assist with seasonal cleanup, including leaves, debris removal, snow-related preparation, and other weather-related needs.
· Support indoor maintenance tasks during winter months or when outdoor work is limited.
· Complete assigned daily and weekly tasks based on facility priorities.
· Basic use and understanding of hand tools for minor repairs to grounds and building.
· Operate Equipment in safe manner (weed eaters, chainsaw mowers, tractor, etc.) and maintain equipment for daily use.
· Other duties as assigned or needed to maintain the operations of the YMCA.
