Enrichment Leader – Afterschool Program
Location: Charleston, WV – West Side Organization: Bob Burdette Center – Charleston, WV Job Type: Part-Time (Up to 22.5 hours/week)Pay: $12/hour
About Us
The Bob Burdette Center (BBC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and 21st Century Community Learning Center providing year-round Out-of-School Time (OST) academic and enrichment services for students in grades K–5 on Charleston’s West Side. Our mission is to create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable Enrichment Leaders to join our afterschool team and support programming at one of our three OST sites on Charleston’s West Side .
Position Summary
The Enrichment Leader supports the Site Coordinator and Program Director in daily afterschool operations and helps deliver high-quality academic, recreational, and enrichment activities. Duties include supervising students, assisting with homework, leading structured activities, and serving as a positive role model.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, between 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM, up to 22.5 hours per week depending on program needs.
Key Responsibilities
Reports directly to the Site Coordinator at the assigned location.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support students during homework time; provide basic academic assistance.
- Lead and oversee enrichment activities prepared by the Site Coordinator or program staff.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, gym time, outdoor play, and meals.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment throughout the day.
- Interact positively with students, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Assist with the coordination of special projects, Educational lessons, and scheduled activities.
- Attend required staff meetings and training.
- Serve as a positive leader and role model for all participants.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Site Coordinator, Program Director, or Executive Director.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with children (preferred).
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of students and staff.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills (Google Suite, Email, iOS or Android).
- Ability to stand, move, and remain fully engaged throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
Reports directly to the Site Coordinator at the assigned location.
