Career Role Description — Marine Sales Territory Manager.
Purpose and Scope
The Territory Manager works primarily in the field, calling on existing and potential customers to learn their marine power and propulsion needs and provide solutions with the premier products our company offers. Part of the role is ambassadorial, supporting our existing Dealer and OEM base, and part is “hunter,” looking for new business. The Territory Manager is supported behind the scenes by our inside Sales, Service, and Technical Support Teams. This position will report to the Director of Sales.
Compensation: Guaranteed six-figure entry-level compensation package comprised of a $60K base salary plus commission. There is no ceiling on compensation – commissions are directly tied to performance.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Examples of the duties and responsibilities include:
· Sales of the Company’s Premier Marine Power and Propulsion Brands
· Support existing customer base by providing propulsion and power generation solutions using the various marine products offered by Boatswain’s Locker
· Hunt for and close on new sales opportunities with prospective Boat Builders, Dealers, Government, and Commercial operators to introduce the Company’s products and services
· Track sales leads, quotes, and orders for effective follow-up and closing
Technical Service Support
· Respond to customer inquiries and requests in person, by telephone, and via email
· Assist customers with recommendations for the selection of marine engines, generators, water jets or other necessary equipment for use in their customers’ boats
· Be a liaison between customers and inside Sales, Service, and Administrative Teams to resolve any issues that may arise and to offer any training or support that may be requested
General Administrative Duties
· Maintain organized and accurate files and records in electronic and paper form
· Complete various sales and expense reports as may be required
· Work with others on Sales and Service Teams to proactively grow and improve the business
· Perform other duties as assigned
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Minimum Required Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
· Must have some knowledge of and/or some experience with similar business operations, i.e., sales of engines, generators, machinery, ancillary products, etc. Knowledge of and experience with marine engines and boat systems in general is not required, but helpful.
· Overall knowledge of, or experience with, Manufacturer, Distributor, and Dealership operations
· Computer skills including proficiency with MS Office and Distribution software
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
· Excellent people skills and aptitude in problem-solving and customer service
· Is as comfortable working in a shop/warehouse/boatyard environment as in an office
· In addition, the following general skills and traits would be necessary for success: Technical aptitude, positive attitude, being a team player, ability to work independently, precision and accuracy, effective and efficient work habits, professional appearance and behavior, ability to manage priorities and workflow
· Must maintain Quality performance by following organization standards

Travel is Required
· Travel throughout California and internationally on occasion
· Attend and work at various marine trade shows and training workshops in the US and abroad
Additional Helpful Information:
· Specific products represented include Yanmar Marine Engines, Rehlko (formerly Kohler) Marine Generators, Hamilton Waterjets, COX Diesel Outboards, STEYR Marine Engines, SmartGyro Stabilizers, MerCruiser Marine Engines, ZF Transmissions, and a variety of related accessory products
· Training is provided as needed on both products and procedures
