Fabrication Production Supervisor – A Shift

Pay: $25.00–$31.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

Boatmate Trailers is seeking an experienced Fabrication Production Supervisor to lead Team Members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating daily production, developing and supporting Team Members, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring production goals are consistently met.

We are looking for a strong leader who is comfortable being on the production floor, solving problems as they arise, holding Team Members accountable, and working closely with Team Leads, other supervisors, and plant leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Direct and coordinate the daily activities of Team Members within the fabrication department.
  • Plan, monitor, and adjust production schedules and cycle times to meet hourly targets and daily production goals.
  • Work closely with other Department Supervisors and the Plant Manager to keep production running efficiently.
  • Monitor Team Member performance, safety, quality, training, and development through regular observation and hands-on involvement.
  • Identify the strengths and abilities of individual Team Members and position them where they can be most successful.
  • Partner with Team Leads to address performance concerns through coaching, training, redirection, or position adjustments.
  • Investigate quality issues, determine root causes, and implement or recommend corrective actions to prevent repeat problems.
  • Regularly inspect tools, equipment, machines, and workstations for defects, malfunctions, safety concerns, or conditions that could affect quality or production.
  • Assist with machine and equipment setup, adjustments, and repair coordination.
  • Maintain accurate production data, timecards, attendance records, and other required documentation.
  • Work with Human Resources and management regarding employee concerns, performance issues, disciplinary actions, evaluations, promotions, interviews, and terminations.
  • Ensure Team Members maintain clean and organized workstations, equipment, and department areas in accordance with company expectations and 5S principles.
  • Ensure all department activities comply with company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Cross-train and assist other departments as needed.
  • Work additional hours when necessary to support production startup, completion, or operational needs.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coach, train, redirect, and hold Team Members accountable
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to provide accurate written documentation
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions

Preferred:

  • Previous fabrication, metalworking, welding, or related manufacturing experience
  • Experience supervising production employees in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S
  • Familiarity with production goals, cycle times, quality standards, and continuous improvement

Technical & Mechanical Knowledge

Successful candidates should have:

  • Working knowledge of common hand and power tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to recognize equipment or tooling concerns
  • Working knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their practical applications
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes, identify problems, and help determine effective solutions

Leadership Skills

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead from the production floor and remain actively involved with the team
  • Clearly communicate expectations and adjust their training or communication style based on the individual
  • Provide constructive feedback and address performance concerns promptly
  • Balance production demands with safety and quality expectations
  • Make sound decisions under pressure
  • Work collaboratively with Team Leads, supervisors, Human Resources, and plant management
  • Maintain professionalism and consistency when handling employee concerns

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is an active manufacturing-floor leadership position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Visually inspect products at close range and at a distance, including identifying color variations
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat
  • Safely navigate around manufacturing equipment, materials, tools, and workstations
  • Use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, move, or assemble objects
  • Perform work in overhead, flat, and vertical positions as needed
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment with prolonged exposure to hot and cold temperatures
  • Wear all required PPE, including safety glasses, steel/composite-toe footwear, gloves, face shields, and other protective equipment as required
