What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Receptionist position at Board of Education?

Overall Purpose 

The purpose of the Receptionist is to welcome and direct visitors while managing internal and external calls with high efficiency and customer service. This role also offers administrative support to the Human Resources Department and responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a prompt and professional manner.

  

Essential Functions

  • Provides front desk reception support by answering telephones, greeting visitors, responding to inquiries, and directing individuals in accordance with building security procedures.
  • Supports daily school and district operations by assisting parents, staff, and visitors, ensuring efficient communication and workflow.
  • Performs general clerical and administrative tasks to support human resources and other school operations.
  • Prepares and distributes correspondence, reports, and other documents to support internal and external communication needs.
  • Maintains up to date building and district reference materials, such as calendars, meeting schedules, and procedural documentation.
  • Responds to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate information is provided in compliance with district policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HR practices, including onboarding, applicant screening, and substitute processing, to support human resources operations.
  • Maintains a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the reception area to support positive first impressions and smooth operations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Certificate required.

 

Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Generally, the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

Education/Training

Minimum three (3) years experience and/or equivalent combination of training and education. 

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
