Job Summary:

BNY is seeking a Database Automation Developer to support the development of automated solutions for database provisioning, maintenance, and cloud-based services across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. This role focuses on hands-on development, backend automation, and improving platform workflows that support enterprise database infrastructure.

This role is based in Jersey City, NJ, Pittsburgh, PA, Lake Mary, FL, or Boston, MA with a hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite per week. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM ET.

Key Responsibilities

• Automation Development: Design and build automation solutions to support database provisioning, patching, upgrades, backups, and recovery across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Backend Development & APIs: Develop backend services and tools using Python, Terraform, and API-driven workflows to support database and infrastructure automation.
• Cloud Database Support: Support database platforms in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Microsoft Azure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain Terraform modules to standardize and automate infrastructure and database deployments.
• SDLC & Change Management: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment through controlled change processes.
• Database Performance & Support: Assist with database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting across Oracle and other database platforms.
• Integration & Workflow Automation: Integrate automation solutions with internal systems and APIs to support orchestration and platform workflows.
• Monitoring & Reliability: Support observability through logging and monitoring, and help troubleshoot issues across database and cloud environments.
• AI-Assisted Development: Utilize AI tools (e.g., Windsurf, Copilot, Claude) to enhance development efficiency and automate workflows.
• Collaboration & Support: Work closely with engineers, DBAs, and platform teams to support ongoing initiatives and ensure reliable delivery of automation solutions.
  
  

Qualifications

• 8 years of hands-on development experience
• 5 years of experience working with Oracle databases
• 3 years of experience in cloud environments (OCI and/or Azure required)
• Strong programming skills in Python, Shell, or similar languages
• Experience building automation for infrastructure or database environments
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles
• Experience with API development and backend services
• Strong troubleshooting skills across application, database, and infrastructure layers
• Experience working in enterprise environments with structured processes
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Windsurf or Copilot) in an enterprise setting
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Experience with additional databases such as SQL Server or MongoDB
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, or tools like Ansible
• Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts (e.g., RAC, Data Guard)
• Exposure to database security concepts (e.g., encryption, auditing)
