Job Summary
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Cryptography Engineer to join the Cybersecurity team at BNY. This role focuses on enterprise cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) initiatives, supporting both current-state certificate services and the organization’s move toward Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC). The position is based in Lake Mary, FL, New York City, or Pittsburgh, PA and requires a strong onsite presence.
Key Responsibilities
This role offers the opportunity to work on highly visible enterprise cybersecurity initiatives, including PKI modernization and Post-Quantum Cryptography efforts. The team is currently supporting two major projects, with responsibilities split approximately 50/50 between PKI and cryptography-focused work. You’ll partner with experienced professionals in a highly regulated environment while contributing to future-forward security initiatives at scale.

Key Responsibilities
- Cryptography & PKI Engineering: Implement and support cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solutions across the BNY enterprise
- Platform & Modernization Efforts: Build, integrate, and support a Cryptographic Asset Management Platform to enable the transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams to determine cryptography and digital certificate use cases across the enterprise
- Certificate Management: Integrate digital certificates with the Certificate Lifecycle Management platform and support enterprise PKI operations
- Documentation & Architecture: Create architecture designs, system build documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles
- Audit & Regulatory Support: Respond to requests from internal users, Internal Audit, and Federal Regulators related to PKI and cryptography
- Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or a related field
- CISSP certification
- 5 years of experience installing and supporting cryptographic solutions
- Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and Key Management Systems (KMS)
- Certificate Lifecycle Management platforms
- Automation of certificate and cryptographic key services
- Cryptographic algorithms and key management
- Secure protocols and digital certificates
- Quantum Computing and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC)
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards (GDPR, DORA, NIST, ISO 27001)
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale PKI platforms
- Exposure to Post-Quantum Cryptography initiatives
- Background working in highly regulated financial services environments
- Experience supporting multiple initiatives concurrently
