Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support the ongoing maintenance, modernization, and enhancement of the Automated Cash Management (ACAM) platform within a leading financial services organization.
This role will be responsible for both production support and hands-on development within a highly complex, batch-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe technologies, application development, and platform modernization, with the ability to support existing systems while contributing to future enhancements.
This is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion. The position is located in Pittsburgh, PA, or New York City, with an expectation of 4 days onsite per week from 7:30-4:30pm EST.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development & Enhancements: Design, develop, test, and implement enhancements for the ACAM platform while supporting ongoing modernization initiatives.
Mainframe Development: Develop and maintain applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS within a large-scale financial services environment.
Batch Processing & Scheduling: Support a highly batch-oriented platform by developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex batch processes using Control-M and related scheduling tools.
Production Support: Investigate and resolve production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and ensure the continued stability and reliability of business-critical applications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product teams, production support teams, business stakeholders, and offshore development teams to gather requirements, prioritize enhancements, and deliver technical solutions.
Modernization Initiatives: Contribute to platform modernization efforts through the adoption of CI/CD practices, cloud technologies, API enablement, and hybrid integration strategies.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Review and maintain technical documentation while participating in knowledge-sharing activities with global team members to develop a thorough understanding of internal systems and processes.
Qualifications:
7+ years of mainframe development experience, preferably within a financial services environment
Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS
Hands-on experience with Control-M, MQ Series, and Easytrieve or REXX
Strong understanding of batch processing, online transaction processing, file-based data flows, and EBCDIC data handling
Experience with production support and incident resolution
Experience with CI/CD practices and source control tools such as Endevor, GitLab, or similar SCM platforms
Experience working within large-scale enterprise environments
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Bachelor's degree required
Preferred Experience:
Experience supporting financial services applications
Exposure to application modernization initiatives
Experience with API enablement, data virtualization, or cloud-hybrid integration
Experience collaborating with globally distributed teams
Ability to balance ongoing production support responsibilities with new development initiatives
Experience working within complex, highly customized enterprise environments
