Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced AML Investigator to join a Financial Crimes Compliance team supporting complex investigations involving potential money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other financial crimes. This role requires strong investigative judgment, hands-on transaction analysis, and the ability to produce detailed, high-quality Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
We are hiring in our Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL offices. 4 days onsite/hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
AML Investigations: Conduct moderate to highly complex investigations into potentially suspicious activity, including money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other financial crimes.
SAR Writing: Draft timely, detailed, and accurate Suspicious Activity Reports in accordance with FinCEN requirements and guidance. Thoroughly document investigative decisions when a SAR filing is not warranted.
Transaction & Wire Analysis: Research and analyze transactional activity, including suspicious wire activity, to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential financial crime risks.
Investigative Research: Leverage internal banking platforms, databases, and external research tools such as LexisNexis to gather information and support investigative conclusions.
Case Management: Independently manage a robust investigative caseload while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and required deadlines.
Collaboration: Work closely with Financial Crimes Compliance leadership and other internal partners to resolve investigations and support broader team objectives.
Qualifications
3–5 years of experience within a financial institution performing AML investigations.
Strong hands-on SAR writing experience, including the ability to develop detailed investigative narratives.
Experience investigating and analyzing suspicious wire activity.
Strong understanding of AML concepts, suspicious activity identification, and financial crime investigations.
Experience researching and analyzing transactional data across multiple banking platforms.
Experience with LexisNexis or an equivalent investigative research platform.
Strong written communication and attention to detail.
Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience
Financial services experience involving correspondent banking.
Experience with QSS, World-Check, and/or Wire Mainframe Database.
Broader exposure to investigations involving money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud.
