User Experience Research Lead
The User Experience Research Lead who, through deep knowledge and application of qualitative and quantitative research methods, will help to inform and refine the complex digital financial systems that underpin our products.
As a User Experience Research Lead, you will be instrumental in setting up a research practice that informs the transformation and evolution of the products and services we offer today into simple, intuitive and powerful experiences trusted by our clients and teams across the world.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following expertise:
- Leadership & Independence - Ability to leverage years of individual contribution and leadership experience to drive user experience research practices across multiple product and platform experiences.
- Methodical Approach - Lead collection, analysis, and documentation of user behaviour through remote and lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, and in-product experimentation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with product designers, cross-functional partners, subject matter experts and leadership to understand and prioritise research opportunities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Advocating Opportunities - Communicate and advocate research findings to diverse audiences through written reports and in-person presentation, exposing opportunity and potential for impact.
- Prototyping & Testing - Proven experience in collaborating on prototypes designed and built to validate ideas, gather insights, and refine solutions.
- Mentorship & Leadership - Provides guidance and support to junior team members, fostering growth in our user experience research capability.
- Continuous Learning - A passion for expanding both knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends and research best practices; and how they might benefit our clients, users, and internal teams.
An ideal candidate would likely have:
- 8-10 years of experience conducting UX research on products, managing UX research projects in Finance and/or Technology businesses.
- 3 years of experience working with senior leadership (e.g. Director level and above).
- A robust and demonstrable understanding and application of appropriate and differentiated research methods; including when and how to apply them during the product development process.

This portfolio should demonstrate some or most of the expertise described above and should be enough of a contextual indicator that you’re qualified for the role. Your portfolio might take the form of a deck showcasing a few key case studies.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $102,000 and $221,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and company- sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
Salary : $102,000 - $221,000
