POSITION OVERVIEW
As an Automotive Technician, you are a vital member of our service team and represent technical excellence and customer commitment that defines our dealership group. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Performance
- Perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and diagnostic services on customer vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices
- Utilize appropriate diagnostic equipment, tools, and software to accurately identify vehicle concerns and system malfunctions
- Follow all Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic procedures, including proper documentation, systematic diagnostic processes, and verification or duplication of customer concerns
- Complete thorough post-repair verification, including road testing where applicable, to ensure all repairs meet quality standards and resolve customer concerns
- Achieve and maintain target performance metrics including "Fixed Right First Time" standards and positive Net Promoter Score (NPS) contributions
- Work efficiently while maintaining the highest quality standards in a fast-paced service environment
- Other duties as assigned
Professional Development
- Complete and maintain all required manufacturer training and certifications on schedule
- Prepare adequately for all scheduled training sessions, whether online, in-house, or off-site
- Stay current with emerging automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry developments
- Pursue and maintain relevant professional certifications to advance technical capabilities
Workplace Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with all safety regulations and dealership standards
- Use all tools, equipment, and dealership property responsibly and report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately
- Present a professional appearance consistent with dealership standards at all times
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols
- Represent the dealership professionally in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members
Preferred / Required QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Driver's License – Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- New York State Safety Inspector License – Required or must be obtained within specified timeframe
- ASE Certifications – Automotive Service Excellence certifications required or strongly preferred based on position level
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, and OEM service manuals
- Understanding of automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, braking, suspension, HVAC, and computer-controlled systems
- Knowledge of proper safety procedures and handling of hazardous materials
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. or more on a regular basis
- Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work
- Ability to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures
