Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing BMW vehicles according to manufacturer standards. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems including:
- Engines
- Transmissions
- Suspension
- Brakes
- Steering
- Electrical systems
- Heating and air conditioning systems
- Accurately diagnose vehicle concerns using BMW diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Perform quality repairs efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and special service tools.
- Complete warranty repairs according to BMW factory specifications.
- Communicate additional repair recommendations clearly to the Service Advisor, including accurate estimates.
- Test drive vehicles as necessary to verify repairs and ensure quality workmanship.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, reliability, and teamwork with customers, coworkers, and management.
Qualifications
- BMW Factory Certification is required.
- Completion of a recognized automotive technical training program from an accredited vocational school, technical college, or manufacturer-sponsored program is required.
- Current BMW technical training credentials and certifications must be maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- ASE certifications are preferred.
- Previous BMW dealership experience preferred.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must provide and maintain a complete set of professional automotive technician tools.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and service bulletins.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
