POSITION SUMMARY: The Research Project Manager will be responsible for managing a research study(ies) including protocol design, implementation and tools required to satisfy a business or social goal or a scientific objective. Major responsibilities include working with the study team to develop study protocols, assessment instruments, and Institutional Review Board protocols; monitoring study implementation at all study sites; preparing and assisting development of manuscripts and presentations; and ensuring compliance with reporting to grant funding institutes. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: (These generally will be required but may not always apply based on department-specific needs): The Research Project Manager is responsible for leading research projects to satisfy a defined goal or scientific objective. Duties include the following: Project Management Works closely with the Clinical Trial Manager to plan and implement research projects and section responsibilities as outlined by the Medical Director. Coordinates/facilitates the research project life cycle, including initiation, development, and implementation of various complex experimentation projects. Assists with coordinating early research activities, training research staff, and completing investigational forms. Coordinates research teams, and manages research project timelines, to ensure research trials or milestones are completed within the specified and in line with annual objectives. Meets regularly with stakeholders, including research staff, clients and study teams, to collect and communicate business and research requirements, and set expectations for research-related work. Participates in research and project management deliverables, including project plans and research schedules, competitive intelligence reports, progress reports and investigational applications. Research Coordination Works with research teams (on site and/or off-site), and the project and research directors, to coordinate research initiatives. Works with the research team to facilitate & ensure protocol adherence, quality assurance and HIPAA compliance. Collects data, summarizes and interprets research data. Collaborates with Principal / Co-Investigators to author journal articles and to present findings at research seminars, study groups and conferences. Administrative Duties Assists the Clinical Trial Manager with purchasing, invoices and accounts payable for the department. Assists the Principal Investigator with monitoring expenses, facilitating contracts, ordering materials and documenting all approved variances. Liaisons with Institutional Review Board (IRB) for submissions, correspondence, and regulatory binders, including administrative amendments. Assists with development and writing of proposals to obtain funding for ongoing and future research activities. Performs administrative duties associated with the study’s Data Monitoring and Safety Board, tracking and reporting adverse events and collecting data specified by the DMSB. Responsible for all other administrative duties related to research activities. Other Duties Engages in clinical study assessments as appropriate. The above is not intended to represent an exhaustive list of accountable duties and responsibilities required JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires Masters Degree (or equivalent combination of education and years of research experience) Master's Degree 3 years of research experience (Bachelor's Degree 5 years can be substituted) KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, have exceptional oral communications and writing skills. Demonstrated proficiency in project management, including budgeting, planning, execution, delivery, quality assurance, and reporting. Experience in data analysis and manuscript preparation is helpful. Knowledge of MS Word, Power Point, and Excel is essential. Must be a proactive problem solver with superb planning, program coordination, and leadership skills.
