What are the responsibilities and job description for the Semiconductor Operator position at BluGlass Inc?
Job Title: Semiconductor Test Operator (Optical/Electrical)
Location: Nashua, NH
Job Overview
We’re looking for meticulous, hands‑on operators to run optical and electrical test workflows for sub‑millimeter semiconductor devices. You’ll operate automated test software (LabVIEW and Python), handle precision micro‑assembly under a microscope, and support packaging steps including die bonding and wire bonding. This role is ideal for detail‑oriented problem solvers who thrive in a cleanroom environment and collaborate closely with engineers in R&D.
Key Responsibilities
- Optical/Electrical Testing
- Run LabVIEW and Python test scripts to capture LIV curves, voltage/current measurements, and optical spectra.
- Set up and align micro‑manipulators and probe stations; ensure stable contacts and repeatable measurements.
- Verify test data quality, diagnose anomalies, and flag devices for retest.
- Micro‑Handling & Visual Inspection
- Use pick‑and‑place tools to handle sub‑mm chips with a steady hand under a microscope.
- Perform visual inspection to determine pass/fail based on shape, color, surface condition, and measured performance.
- Track lot movement and maintain accurate device status in logs.
- Packaging & Assembly
- Operate die bonders and wire bonders per process parameters and work instructions.
- Learn and run TO capping processes; set up and operate burn‑in racks and lifetime test equipment.
- Execute setup, calibration, and routine maintenance for assigned tools.
- Debugging & Documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic software, mechanical, and fixturing issues (e.g., alignment, script errors, I/O faults).
- Review and interpret equipment log files; document findings and corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed test records, travelers, and equipment logs to quality standards.
- Collaboration & Training
- Partner with engineers and technicians to refine test methods and fixtures.
- Get trained quickly and help train new team members on procedures and equipment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and R&D experiments as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Hands‑on experience running LabVIEW and/or Python test scripts for optical/electrical measurements (LIV curves, spectra, voltage/current).
- Proficiency with micro‑manipulators, probe stations, and microscope work; steady hand and fine motor control.
- Experience with pick‑and‑place tools handling sub‑mm die; strong pass/fail judgment using visual and performance criteria.
- Operating experience with die bonders and wire bonders.
- Ability to learn TO capping, burn‑in, and lifetime testing equipment quickly.
- Basic debugging skills for software scripts and mechanical/tooling issues; comfort reading equipment log files.
- Willingness and ability to sit for extended periods while performing tests.
- Cleanroom experience and strict adherence to ESD controls and safety protocols.
- Reliable attendance; on‑time daily start; willingness to work overtime as business needs require.
- Team‑oriented mindset; eager to learn, try new tasks, and support R&D activities.
- Preferred
- Experience in semiconductor optoelectronics testing or laser/LED devices.
- Familiarity with GD&T, CAD, or basic fixture design.
- Prior involvement in continuous improvement or SPC data tracking.
Work Environment & Benefits
- Cleanroom environment with ESD controls and standard PPE.
- Fast‑paced setting with collaborative engineering support.
- Training provided with opportunities to cross‑train and advance.
