Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for supporting individuals with disabilities, providing personalized care, and promoting independence. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in assisting clients with daily activities, implementing care plans, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment that encourages growth and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and hygiene.
- Support clients in developing life skills through structured activities and community engagement.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, administering medication, and reporting changes to healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs or restrictions.
- Operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively for mobility assistance.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community outings while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Follow care plans meticulously to support residents' physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Engage in patient observation to identify potential health or behavioral concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning common areas and residents’ rooms.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in resident monitoring and basic first aid or CPR certification is required.
- Familiarity with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism enhances suitability for this role.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities supports success in this position.
- Knowledge of manual handling techniques like patient transfer methods (e.g., Hoyer lifts) is helpful.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines is critical.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour
