What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Sales and Marketing position at BlueWater Marinas?
About the Company:
BlueWater Marinas is a growing marina management company operating multiple full-service marina locations. Our portfolio encompasses slip rentals, boat club memberships, boat rentals, boat sales, marine service and maintenance, and fuel operations. We are committed to delivering an exceptional on-the-water experience for boaters at every level — from long-term slip holders to first-time renters— while driving sustainable revenue growth across all business lines.
Position Summary:
The Manager of Sales & Marketing is a leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, data-driven revenue growth strategy across the company’s full marina portfolio. This individual will own the full customer lifecycle — from awareness and acquisition through retention and expansion — and will serve as the primary commercial driver for our core business lines: slip rentals, boat club memberships, and marine service.
The Manager will partner closely with marina general managers, the operations team, and executive leadership to align sales and marketing initiatives with broader business objectives. This is a highly visible, results-oriented position with direct accountability for portfolio-wide revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Slip Rental Revenue
- Develop and manage a proactive slip rental sales program to maximize occupancy rates across all marina locations, with particular focus on seasonal and long-term lease conversion.
- Build and maintain a qualified waitlist pipeline; implement structured outreach and follow-up cadences to reduce vacancy periods.
- Introduce dynamic or yield-based pricing strategies to optimize revenue per linear foot during peak, shoulder, and off-season periods.
- Partner with marina managers to establish local sales goals, track performance metrics, and coach front-line staff on slip rental sales techniques.
Boat Club Membership Growth
- Own end-to-end membership sales for all boat club locations, from lead generation through onboarding and retention.
- Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns to drive new membership inquiries, including digital advertising, referral programs, event-based acquisition, and local partnerships.
- Develop tiered membership structures, upgrade pathways, and renewal incentive programs to increase lifetime member value.
- Monitor churn indicators and implement proactive retention initiatives, including member engagement programming and loyalty rewards.
Marine Service Revenue
- Collaborate with the service department to develop marketing strategies that increase service bay utilization and introduce new customers to the marina’s maintenance, repair, and winterization offerings.
- Create recurring service programs (e.g., annual maintenance packages, pre-season inspection bundles) to build predictable service revenue.
- Implement automated service reminders tied to customer vessel records and seasonal schedules to drive repeat business.
- Identify cross-sell opportunities between slip holders, boat club members, and the service department.
Portfolio-Wide Marketing & Brand
- Maintain a consistent brand identity and digital presence across all marina locations, including website, social media, email, and local advertising channels.
- Own the marketing calendar, campaign planning, and content strategy, ensuring alignment with seasonal demand patterns and business priorities.
- Leverage CRM and marketing automation tools to segment audiences, personalize communications, and measure campaign performance.
- Oversee paid digital advertising strategy (Google, Meta, programmatic) and organic search/SEO efforts to drive qualified inbound traffic.
Additional Revenue Lines
- Support revenue growth initiatives across boat rentals, boat sales, and fuel operations by developing targeted promotions, packages, and cross-sell programs in coordination with department leads.
- Identify and develop partnerships with local hotels, tourism boards, real estate brokers, and corporate event planners to generate referral traffic and group bookings.
Analytics & Reporting
- Establish KPIs and reporting cadence for all sales and marketing activities; deliver regular performance updates to executive leadership.
- Analyze customer data, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
- Manage the marketing and sales budget with discipline, optimizing spend allocation based on measurable ROI.
Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop the sales and marketing team; set clear expectations, provide coaching, and foster a high-performance culture.
- Serve as a collaborative partner to marina general managers, aligning local initiatives with company-wide strategy.
