Bluewater Federal is looking for a Sr Infrastructure Design Engineer to support the Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).
Responsibilities
- Lead design and documentation of endtoend infrastructure solutions-logical/physical network, cable plant, site surveys, drawings, cloud/hybrid integration, resiliency/DR, and security architecture-ensuring formfitfunction alignment with NSWCDD standards and mission outcomes.
- Conduct and standardize site surveys; develop site survey reports and design packages for new/modified/sustainment requirements (materials, pathways, power).
- Produce/maintain asbuilt and topology drawings (AutoCAD/Visio), communications diagrams, functional area logical diagrams, and building infrastructure drawing packages.
- Develop/implement network architecture processes; design network systems based on specifications, including wireless (WAP placement/coverage) and cellular/5G integration
- Generate TRQ/TEMPEST packages; maintain and update PDS drawings annually at minimum; install updated shed drawings after IMACs
- Support cloud strategy and hybrid designs (AWS GovCloud, Azure), virtualization (VMware/HyperV, VDI, containers), and automation/orchestration.
- Define CfM/ITAM processes for configuration baselining and documentation; ensure artifacts required by RMF, STIGs, and cybersecurity stack are produced/maintained.
- Provide QA and technology tradeoff analyses; forecast workloads/capacity and optimize topology/performance
Qualifications
- 5 years of professional work experience in relation to network areas such as landlines, cellphones, voice, video and data networks, and wireless communications.
- Must have an active Secret clearance
- Experience in Visio and AutoCAD as well as more complex network engineering tools and tasks.
- Experience in systems studies including planning, design, development, and modifications of existing and planned voice and data communications network systems and subsystems.
- BICSI RCDD certification is required within 90 days after start date.
- Mastery of network/infrastructure design standards, documentation, and Government approval workflows (CAB/CCB); strong collaboration with security/O&M leads
- Familiarity with PDS/TEMPEST, cable plant QA, and secure facility considerations
- Ability to lead multisite design efforts and support afterhours cutovers where downtime windows require
