Position Overview:
The primary responsibility of the Floor Care Technician is to ensure that floors throughout the facility are clean, sanitized and attractive. The Floor Care Technician will work independently maintaining carpeted and hard surface floors throughout the facility utilizing various types of floor cleaning equipment including sweepers, vacuum cleaners, buffers and strippers. All floor surfaces will be maintained in accordance with applicable standards, regulations and facility requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
Operate floor care equipment
- Perform proper techniques of floor care and preparation of areas to be cleaned, mopped, buffed, stripped or waxed as well as carpet cleaning
- Must be able to operate and maintain all floor cleaning/finishing equipment to include but not limited to floor buffer/burnishes, carpet extraction machines, and other carpet cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of the materials, methods, machines and devices used in cleaning floors
- Move furniture and equipment to prepare areas for floor care
Schedule a floor care program
- Be able to create a schedule for the floor care program so Supervisor and other department and have knowledge of the floor care schedule
Inventory and maintain cleaning supplies
- Maintain an inventory and inform the supervisor whenever there is need for more supplies
- Be able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
Follow safety precautions
- Follow established safety precautions for cleaning and maintaining all areas of the facility
Perform housekeeping duties and assist with grounds
- Will be asked to help grounds when inclement weather demands
- Will perform housekeeping duties as directed by supervisor
Weekends and Holidays
- Will be scheduled to work some weekends and holidays
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age
- Prefer prior experience in institutional cleaning
- Prefer prior experience maintaining floors and operating floor care equipment
Physical Requirements:
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
