Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine repairs on plant and mobile equipment.
- Conduct periodic inspections to identify wear, damage, and replacement needs; ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Utilize technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including but not limited to loaders, shears, grapples, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailers, shredders, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform welding, grinding, torching, and weld setup as required.
- Safely set up and disassemble machinery and equipment.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments regarding equipment status and repair needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1–3 years of related maintenance experience (industrial or mobile equipment preferred).
- Basic mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to climb on and off mobile equipment.
- Frequent exposure to industrial environments, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to navigate uneven surfaces in active scrap yard operations.
