Responsibilities
The back-up operator will be responsible for covering multiple roles on the paint line to maintain operation and avoid stopping for breaks caused by vacations and call-offs. The back-up operator is the Paint Line Team Leader’s second in command and is expected to cross-train across all material handler and operator roles to support continuous paint line operation. This includes being competent at operating an overhead crane and driving a forklift. The back-up operator is also expected to provide leadership and support to the broader team as a support to the Team Leader. Primary duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Works from shop order, schedules, and special instructions.
- Responsible for keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition
- Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at BlueScope
- Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals
- BlueScope Coated Products is now offering a $2,000 sign-on for second shift***
Minimum
Education & Experience Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- 2 Tier-3 roles signed off or 2 Tier-1/Tier-2 1 Tier-3 role(s) signed off (see Tier Model)
- One year of Manufacturing Experience
- Knowledge of basic hand and power tool
- 6 months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing environment
- Basic computer skills
- Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Good communication skills
- Mobile equipment operations skills
