Utility Operator- Second Shift

The Utility Operator is the Paint Line Team Leader’s second in command and is expected to cross-train across all material handler and machine operator roles to support continuous paint line operation. This includes being competent at operating an overhead crane and driving a forklift. The utility operator is expected to provide leadership and support to the broader team as a support to the Team Leader. The utility operator will be responsible for covering multiple roles on the paint line to maintain operation and avoid stopping for breaks caused by vacations and call-offs. Primary duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to: Works from shop order, schedules, and special instructions. Responsible for keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition Responsible for understanding and complying with the fundamental principles associated with the Quality and Environmental Management System in place at BlueScope Communicates daily with internal personnel from Production and Quality Control to assist in resolving problems and achieving company goals This position opening is for second shift: 1:45pm-10pm ***BlueScope Coated Products is now offering a $2,000 sign-on for second shift*** (Terms and Conditions apply for sign-on bonuses) A successful candidate will start at $24. With ongoing cross training, a Backup Operator can earn up to $30/hr Education & Experience Qualifications: Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) One year of Manufacturing Operating Experience Knowledge of basic hand and power tool Preferred: 6 months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing environment Skills & Competencies: Basic computer skills Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands Good communication skills Mobile equipment operations skills Additional Information The preceding job responsibilities and tasks were designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates in this job.
