The Finance Generalist plays a key role in supporting the daily financial operations of BlueRidge Fiber Solutions by providing administrative, accounting, and cross functional support. This position is responsible for accounts payable processing and data analysis to support financial decision making.Role and Responsibilities1. Maintain and organize the accounts payable electronic system, ensuring that all vendors, transaction activity, and adjustments are accurately recorded.2. Receive and verify invoices for accuracy and prepare input documents for posting to appropriate general ledger accounts and accounting period.3. Reconcile receiving documentation to purchase orders and invoices. Prepare input documents for posting to appropriate general ledger accounts and accounting period.4. Identify any unusual charges for further investigation. Coordinate with relevant departments to review flagged items and check for any related work orders. Escalate unresolved or complex billing issues to the CFO for additional review.5. Ensure all payables are accurately coded to the relevant properties and general ledger accounts to reduce the risk of errors and avoiding late payment penalties.6. Monitor incoming Accounts Payable correspondence daily for invoices and communications, promptly addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and directing complex matters to the appropriate team members.7. Perform general administrative activities and serve as backup for other team members in the finance and purchasing departments.8. Other duties, as assigned.Qualifications and Education Requirements· Accounting/ clerking skills· Skilled and experienced in general ledger, spreadsheet (Highly proficient Excel Skills required) and word processing programs. Accurate 10-key by touch.· Ability to maintain all accounting files.· Requires prioritization of tasks to meet deadlines, good decision making and organization skills.· Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients and co-workers. Ability to work closely with other employees to ensure positive, constructive environment within the program or department, and throughout the agency.· Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach.· Must be detail oriented Preferred education and experienceAssociate’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred, however, years’ experience will be taken into consideration. Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Physical DemandsThis is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
