Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Controls Engineer based in Richmond, VA. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and troubleshooting control systems for advanced packaging machinery. Day-to-day tasks include commissioning control systems, programming motion controls, HMI work, and integrating 3rd party OEM equipment. The role also involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal machine performance and client satisfaction.
Specifically, we utilize Rockwell Compact Logix, ASEM/Rockwell Optix HMIs, Beckhoff, Keba, and other Codesys based solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field or 5 years experience
- Good programing knowledge foundation beyond just ladder logic is required. Structured Text, C#, SQL, etc. are a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical communication skills
- Experience with PLC-driven, coordinated servo motion control and kinematics concepts a big plus
- Experience with platforms we currently use (ASEM/Rockwell Optix, Logix 5000, Beckhoff, Keba, IO-Link) is a big plus, but not strictly required
- Familiarity with version control concepts a plus. Experience with git is a big plus.
- Up to 15% travel. We have a capable service team that does typical installs, but new solutions and tricky issues sometimes require on-site support from controls. Ability to travel internationally is required.
- Work is on-site in Richmond, VA
