BluePearl Pet Hospital in Oak Creek, WI is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Surgery Department!
Pay Range CVTI-II: $21.00 - $33.50/hour
- This pay band is dependent on local veterinary licensing, experience, and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
This is a day shift position.
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:
Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Proficient in surgical anesthesia monitoring and induction, with hands-on experience in pre-operative preparation, intra-operative support, and post-operative recovery across a variety of procedures.
Utilize their ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
Performs physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
Understands normal vital parameters and alerts the doctor when abnormal.
Able to set up intravenous fluids.
Administers subcutaneous fluids.
Can operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
Able to disconnect and connect the patient from intravenous fluids aseptically.
Ability to monitor patient response to fluid therapy, including signs of overload.
