Under direction from the Horticulturist and Lawn Care Manager, Crew Foreman, an Equipment Operator operates power equipment in the landscaping. Must have knowledge of standard procedures and methods required for efficient and normal completion of the required job. Must operate equipment in a safe manner, never endangering the personal safety of those working in the area. Must understand various working conditions to minimize wear on the equipment. Must operate equipment as required to facilitate daily production needs. Reports any labor or equipment needs to the supervisor.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and move around for the entirety or majority of their shift. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is also regularly required to push, pull, bend, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Likely this role will require the ability to drive a golf cart to transport from one area of the property to another in a safe and secure manner.

Responsibilities
- Perform tasks following Bluejack National high level of standards as outlined in the Training Manual and Operating Standards Manual.
- Uses hand tools such as rakes, shovels, blowers, etc.
- Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming around trees, fence lines, lake banks, bed edges and hillsides.
- Drives utility vehicle or other vehicles as needed to complete tasks.
- Removes trash to provide a clean area.
- Washes and returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.
- Assists in project work; grades and prepares soil bases, lays sod and sprigs.
- Performs other duties as directed by Horticulturist and Lawn Care Manager
- Operate all powered golf course maintenance equipment safely and proficiently, with awareness of golfer safety.
- At the beginning of each day check vehicles as follows:
- Check levels of oil and fuel bringing them up to proper level if necessary.
- Perform walk around inspection of any other possible defects or fluid leaks.
- Report any problems to Mechanic
- Make minor adjustments to equipment including testing of hand control levers, buttons and pedals to start and regulate speed of motor.
- Ensure required pressure is attained and that panel gauges and lights are functioning properly.
- Notify supervisor of any malfunctions.
- At the end of each day: Wash, add fuel and lubricate equipment.
- Perform walk around inspection of equipment looking for any damage that may have occurred, or excessive wear that will need repair.
- Report any findings to the Mechanic I or Mechanic Supervisor.
- Maintain good customer relations.
- Observe and report any turf, landscape and equipment problems.
- Perform work with due regard to safety of self and fellow employees while exercising proper care and protection of company property.
- Dig trenches as directed.
- Become knowledgeable about the correct cutting heights.
- Mow designated areas with proper mower as directed.
- Must be able to lift bags of fertilizer up to 50 pounds.
- Irrigate areas as instructed.
- Inform supervisor of any work discrepancies or equipment malfunctions
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times
- Be a Bluejack National Landscaping ambassador at all times
- Attend all relevant operational meetings
- Support the Development / Club Customs, Culture and Rules
- Adheres to all federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety and employment
- Attend to special projects and additional duties as requested by Horticulturist and Lawn Care Manager
- All other duties as assigned
Experience:
- High School diploma preferred but not required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Proven skills with the ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Working knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment.
- Ability to work outdoors for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to stand on feet for extended period of time.
- Available for 24-hour re-call in emergency situations.
- Exhibit sound time management and organizational skills.
- Ensure the supplies needed to operate are properly stocked.
