Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments, ensuring optimal oral health for each patient.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to inform treatment plans.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster long-term oral health habits.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as taking dental radiographs (medical imaging), applying sealants, and providing support during restorative treatments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and office protocols using EMR systems like Dentrix.
- Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization of instruments.
- Collaborate seamlessly with dentists and other team members in four-handed dentistry to deliver efficient, high-quality care.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a fast-paced dental clinic or office environment.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and medical coding practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with the ability to review documentation accurately and thoroughly.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records confidentiality and data security.
