Duties
- Conduct thorough eye examinations utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and overall eye function
- Diagnose and treat common eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and refractive errors
- Prescribe corrective lenses and recommend appropriate vision solutions tailored to each patient’s needs
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options, ensuring they understand their condition and next steps
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology, optical technology, and medical terminology to provide the highest standard of care
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as an Optometrist with current certification to practice medicine in the designated area
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or general optometry practice with a strong foundation in physiology and anatomy of the eye
- Knowledge of optical experience including fitting lenses, contact lenses, and spectacle prescriptions
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and medical coding practices
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service and effective communication
- Ability to perform basic clinical procedures such as measuring vital signs, conducting visual field tests, and aseptic techniques during examinations
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus, demonstrating adaptability across age groups
