Position Overview

The Director, Federal Solutions Engineering is a key leadership role responsible for leading and optimizing Blue Ally’s Federal solutions engineering function. This role collaborates closely with Federal Sales, Practice Leaders, Alliance Partners, and executive leadership to drive technical strategy, solution alignment, and operational efficiency across U.S. Federal Civilian, DoD, and Intelligence Community customers.

The Director will serve as a technical expert for complex pursuits, ensuring solutions are compliant, differentiated, secure, and aligned to customer mission outcomes while supporting Blue Ally’s growth strategy in data center, networking, cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and services. Focused on planning and leading the Federal Engineering Team in providing world-class solutions, this position emphasizes oversight of day-to-day operations, strategic enhancements to Federal Business, and collaboration with OEMs to improve technical relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead a high-performing Federal solutions engineering organization, including team management such as 1x1s, expense and time off approvals, and personal development plans.
  • Define solutions engineering strategy, operating model, and engagement standards across Federal clients.
  • Align technical strategy with Blue Ally’s Federal go-to-market and growth priorities, working closely with the CTO Office to continually align presales strategy with technical/business strategy.
  • Act as technical sponsor for priority opportunities, identifying operational procedures and potential changes to enhance overall business outcomes and profitability.


Federal Capture & Solution Leadership

  • Guide technical strategy for large, complex Federal pursuits (IDIQs, GWACs, task orders, and standalone procurements).
  • Oversee solution development, architecture, and compliance for RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
  • Ensure solutions meet Federal security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, CMMC).
  • Drive differentiation through architecture, innovation, and value-based outcomes, focusing on planning and day-to-day operations of Federal Technical Solution Engineering and Business planning.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Federal Sales leadership on account planning, pipeline development, and deal strategy.
  • Collaborate with Practice Leaders (Network, Cybersecurity, Cloud, AI/Data, etc.) to align offerings to Federal mission needs, including working closely with ServicesLeadership to improve the process and adoption of Professional Services within Federal.
  • Work closely with Account Management Leads, Alliances, and CTO Office to streamline positioning and solutions from aFederallens for strategic services and vendor products.
  • Coordinate with Capture, Contracts, Pricing, and Delivery teams to ensure seamless handoff from pre-sales to execution.


Partner & Alliance Management

  • Work with our Alliances and Technology teams, interfacing with key OEMs and strategic partners (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, HPE, AWS, Microsoft, Red Hat), working to improve technical relationships and facilitate strategic deals.
  • Influence joint solution development and co-selling initiatives.
  • Support partner certifications, competencies, and Federal program requirements.


Team Development & Talent Strategy

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop Federal Solutions Architects.
  • Establish technical training, certification, and career development paths.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-first thinking.


Governance, Metrics & Process

  • Establish standardized solutions engineering processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Track and report on key metrics including win rates, pipeline coverage, resourceutilization, and solution quality.
  • Continuously improve efficiency, scalability, and margin contribution, meeting the challenges of operating within the Federal Government.


Work Conditions

  • 40-hour work week with availability during standard business hours
  • Location: DC Metro Area, VA (hybrid)
  • Travel expected::50%
