Blue Water Home Care & Hospice is seeking an experienced, strategic, and collaborative Director of Finance to join our executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, the Director of Finance provides executive oversight of all financial operations while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will play a key role in organizational strategy, financial planning, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
As Director of Finance, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership for all financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, financial reporting, and cash management.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide ongoing financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, and accounting systems that ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Oversee Medicare cost reporting, reimbursement processes, and financial compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate annual financial and retirement plan audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for executive leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
- Monitor organizational financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability, and long-term financial health.
- Partner with agency leadership on strategic initiatives, financial modeling, and organizational planning.
- Evaluate financial implications of contracts, funding opportunities, and new business initiatives.
- Oversee project budgets, timelines, and financial performance for assigned organizational initiatives.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure sound financial practices support exceptional patient care.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong healthcare finance experience and the ability to translate financial data into actionable business decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, preferably within nonprofit healthcare or home health and hospice.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, accounting systems, and internal controls.
- Experience supervising finance or administrative staff.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience with Medicare reimbursement and cost reporting.
- Knowledge of home health and hospice operations.
- Familiarity with CHAP accreditation standards and nonprofit financial management.
