Blue Tech Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Unified Communications Engineer to support a large-scale Department of Defense unified communications and video collaboration environment. This individual will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the operational support, sustainment, troubleshooting, optimization, and stakeholder coordination of a secure enterprise collaboration platform.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on Day-2 operations and platform sustainment within a mission-critical environment supporting Federal and DoD customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in enterprise collaboration technologies, secure communications infrastructure, and operational support within classified or highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Sustainment
- Provide daily operational support for enterprise unified communications infrastructure
- Monitor system performance, platform availability, and overall operational health
- Perform incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Coordinate escalations with internal engineering teams and vendor support organizations
- Support backup validation, resiliency testing, and continuity operations
Platform Administration & Technical Support
- Support and maintain:
- SIP/H.323 communications services
- WebRTC collaboration services
- Video Teleconferencing (VTC) integrations
- Support Microsoft Teams interoperability operations
- Perform configuration changes, call routing updates, and policy administration
- Participate in change management activities and production deployments
User Experience & Collaboration Support
- Maintain and improve:
- Scheduling workflows
- Meeting join instructions
- Conference policies and collaboration standards
- Support endpoint integrations and usability enhancements
- Provide white-glove support for executive and high-visibility meetings
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Develop and maintain:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Runbooks
- Operational documentation
- Knowledge base articles
- Ensure all documentation accurately reflects the current operational environment
Security & Compliance
- Support RMF/ATO-related operational activities
- Assist with:
- ACAS scan review and remediation support
- POA&M tracking
- SIEM logging validation
- Ensure compliance with IL6 and DoD cybersecurity requirements
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide recurring operational and performance reporting
- Participate in technical and program-level meetings
- Serve as a liaison between customer stakeholders, operational teams, and engineering organizations
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting Unified Communications and Video Conferencing platforms
- Strong understanding of:
- SIP
- H.323
- WebRTC
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams interoperability environments
- Experience working within Federal or DoD environments
- Active security clearance appropriate for IL6 access
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced operational environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting secure enterprise collaboration and Unified Communications environments within DISA or other DoD organizations
- Hands-on experience with enterprise video collaboration platforms, interoperability services, and secure conferencing technologies
- Strong background supporting SIP, H.323, and WebRTC signaling, media troubleshooting, and call routing within classified or mission-critical environments
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams interoperability and Cloud Video Interoperability (CVI) solutions within secure Federal infrastructures
- Experience operating within STIG-enforced, RMF-compliant, and IL5/IL6 environments
- Familiarity with PKI certificate lifecycle management, DoD CAC workflows, and secure certificate provisioning processes
- Experience supporting VMware vCenter and ESXi virtualization infrastructures across Development, Engineering, and Production environments
- Ability to perform Tier III engineering support and root cause analysis across networking, DNS, routing, and collaboration dependencies
- Experience developing implementation plans, test plans, rollback procedures, operational documentation, and cybersecurity artifacts for production approvals
- Familiarity with DISN networking, Cisco/Juniper infrastructure, and enterprise networking operations within DoD environments
- Current CompTIA Security CE certification or equivalent DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification preferred
- Active Top Secret clearance strongly preferred
Work Location & Schedule
- Hybrid work schedule
- Minimum of three (3) onsite days per week at Fort Meade, MD
- Occasional support at Herndon, VA, as required
