What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator / Driver position at Blue Star Harvesting, LLC?
The employer is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to assist with the blueberry harvest. See Addendum C for hourly work schedule explanation. Agricultural Equipment Operator / Driver will conduct simple daily vehicle maintenance checks, pick up workers from employer-provided housing, take them to the worksite, and drive them back to their housing. They will only spend about fifteen percent of their workday doing these job duties. Other daily duties include field walking, conducting proper worker timekeeping and job activity recording using a scanning device, filling water jugs with drinking water for the workers each morning and ensuring field sanitation measures are maintained throughout the day. Duties also include machine harvesting blueberries and/or forklift and tractor operation. Operators of machine harvesters must be careful to avoid damaging blueberry bushes. Worker may also transport blueberries from field to packing shed (on farm only). Agricultural Equipment Operator / Driver is required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the food store. This job will be done under varying outdoor extreme weather conditions such as heat, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind, and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged standing, heavy bending, stooping, and lifting will be involved on a regular basis. Must have or be able to obtain immediately a farm labor contractor license. Background check and random drug testing will be post-hire at employer's expense. All workers must always follow safety rules.
