Traffic Signal & Controls Technician
Location: On Site in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

What You Will Do
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain traffic signal equipment, control cabinets, and related roadway infrastructure.
- Diagnose electrical and communication issues using appropriate testing equipment and proven troubleshooting methods.
- Terminate, dress, wire, and program traffic signal control cabinets while ensuring reliable system operation.
- Interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and construction plans to complete installations accurately.
- Support fiber optic infrastructure, communication systems, and network connectivity for traffic signal operations when applicable.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service calls to minimize roadway disruptions.
- Operate bucket trucks and other specialized equipment while following established safety procedures.
- Work independently in the field while maintaining clear communication with project leadership and fellow technicians.
- Travel throughout Tennessee as projects require, including occasional overnight assignments.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience working with traffic signal systems or a strong background in electrical or electronic systems.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and the ability to interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, low voltage systems, or industrial electronics.
- Ability to terminate, wire, and organize electrical control panels or traffic signal cabinets.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift at least 51 pounds.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working from bucket trucks at heights up to 120 feet.
- Willingness to work overtime, averaging approximately 50 hours per week based on project demands.
- Ability to travel throughout Tennessee with occasional overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver License (CDL), or willingness to obtain within 180 days.
- IMSA certification.
- Experience with fiber optic systems.
- Electronic programming or controller configuration experience.
- Previous experience supporting transportation infrastructure or intelligent traffic systems.
