What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr QA Engineer (Founding QA Opportunity), AI SaaS Platform position at Blue Signal Search?
Sr QA Engineer (Founding QA Opportunity), AI SaaS Platform
On-site in Reston, VA
A high-growth AI software company is expanding its product quality function and seeking a senior QA leader to help shape the next chapter of its platform. This is a standout opportunity for someone who wants meaningful ownership, close partnership with founders and product leaders, and the chance to build a modern quality practice inside an ambitious SaaS environment. The right person will bring strong technical judgment, deep curiosity, and a passion for creating reliable user experiences across web applications, integrations, and AI-driven workflows.
This role is ideal for a senior quality professional who enjoys both strategic ownership and hands-on execution. You will help establish the testing vision, improve release confidence, strengthen automation, and raise the bar for product quality across a fast-moving platform serving complex business users.
What You Will Do
- Build the first formal quality program for a growing AI SaaS business, spanning manual testing, automation, release readiness, and measurable quality standards.
- Lead end-to-end validation across browser-based workflows, APIs, integrations, data flows, and AI-enabled product experiences.
- Create practical test plans, release checklists, regression coverage, defect triage practices, and reporting that support confident product launches.
- Strengthen automated test coverage for critical user journeys, service layers, and integration points using modern QA tools and frameworks.
- Test complex SaaS workflows with a sharp eye for UI detail, design consistency, workflow accuracy, edge cases, and overall user experience.
- Partner closely with engineering, product, and leadership to make quality a repeatable operating discipline rather than a last-minute checkpoint.
- Evaluate AI-supported features for consistency, explainability, fallback behavior, and overall trust in user-facing outputs.
- Review APIs, integrations, cloud application behavior, and network activity to identify issues before they reach customers.
- Produce clear bug reports, validate fixes thoroughly, and help teams reduce repeat defects over time.
- Contribute to a strong quality culture by improving testing standards, release habits, and shared accountability across the organization.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in QA, quality engineering, software testing, or a related product quality function.
- Proven background supporting SaaS products, web applications, and release testing in fast-paced environments.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot UI inconsistencies, broken workflows, design drift, and usability issues.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, integrations, cloud-based applications, and network request analysis.
- Ability to balance manual testing depth with modern automation thinking.
- Comfort working cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
- Customer-first mindset with the ability to think like end users and understand how product quality affects adoption and trust.
- Experience with modern QA tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Postman, Pytest, or similar solutions is highly valued.
- Experience working with enterprise software, process automation tools, or intelligent technology solutions is highly valued.
- Interest in joining a high-ownership environment where quality is a visible and strategic function.
