Second Shift Warehouse Operations Lead
Location: On-Site | Allentown, PA
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4:30 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. (occasionally to 1:30 a.m. for wrap-up or early for meetings)
Direct Reports: 1 lead plus ~10 forklift operators covering pick, stage, and ship functions
Step into the driver’s seat of a growing evening-shift operation for a global manufacturer and distributor of building-materials products. You will own second-shift throughput, safety, and people development while the organization continues to invest in automation, Lean tools, and career growth pathways. Your leadership will ensure customer orders leave the dock accurately, on time, and with a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach & direct nightly operations – guide the crew through order picking, staging, stretch-wrapping, and load preparation so next-day shipments leave error-free
- Own inventory data integrity – reconcile pick/ship reports, investigate discrepancies, and drive accurate, real-time system transactions
- Champion a “safety-first” culture – conduct walkthroughs, lead toolbox talks, and enforce OSHA and company policies to achieve zero incidents
- Optimize people & processes – set daily labor plan, monitor KPIs, and launch Kaizen/5S projects that elevate throughput and quality
- Cross-functional communicator – partner with production, transportation, and quality to remove roadblocks and keep the night shift connected to day-shift objectives
- Documentation & compliance – verify bills of lading, load sheets, and manifests; ensure regulatory and corporate requirements are met
What You’ll Bring
- 3 years leading warehouse or distribution teams with a strong safety track record
- Proficiency with ERP/WMS platforms (SAP experience a plus or the aptitude to learn quickly)
- Working knowledge of shipping, receiving, and inventory‐control best practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material-handling equipment as needed
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s in supply-chain or related field preferred
