What You'll Be Doing!

The Project Estimator is responsible for leading estimates for various construction types including tilt-up, cold storage, multi-family, masonry, etc. The Project Estimator must be extremely organized, cost conscious, aware of all aspects of the project, and be able to communicate effectively with everyone involved in the project.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble bid invitation lists and assist in maintenance of Subcontractor and Supplier databases
- Correspond with Owners, Architects, Subcontractors, and Suppliers as needed to perform estimating duties
- Attend project hand-off meeting
- Perform site inspection prior to bidding
- Document math computations on quote sheets to indicate how the final amount was determined in the estimate
- Develop preliminary project schedule
- Prepare formal Subcontractor / Supplier bid scope packages (CM projects)
- Prepare legal bid advertisements
- Perform Subcontractor / Supplier pre-qualification measures
- Develop Subcontractor / Supplier bid interest in projects
- Prepare bid tabulation forms
General:
- Participate in company and estimating department meetings as scheduled
- Manage company resources wisely
- Assist in training of new personnel as requested
- Stay current in training of estimating systems used by the company by attending seminars and training sessions as requested
- Participate in professional organizations such as ASPE, CSI, etc. whenever possible.
- BS in Engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
