JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: SPED Aide I-35 hours per week
FLSA: Non-Exempt (hourly)
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Special Education experience preferred.
- Valid Fingerprint clearance card issued by the AZ DPS.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff and the public.
JOB GOAL: To contribute to effective school/public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries with students, staff and the public. Promote a positive, uplifting atmosphere for our school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists teacherS in the instruction of students by working with them individually or in small groups.
- Establishes a supportive, encouraging and personal relationship with students being careful not to develop intense emotional attachments.
- Typer materials used in the classroom, computer skills, perform other clerical tasks to assist the teacher.
- Assist the teacher with record-keeping tasks such as attendance, grades, IEP's, etc.
- Prepare and use a variety of instructional materials under the supervision of the teacher, example: worksheets, practice exercises, games and other instructional aides.
- Monitor student activities such as test taking, cafeteria, playground, field trips, etc.
- Communication and cooperation with general education teachers and parents.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month position. Salary established by the Governing Board. Employee benefits in accordance with district policies.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Governing Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
