What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychology Instructor-9 Month position at Blue Ridge Community College?
The Purpose
Sustain high-quality teaching performance in Psychology including appropriate course loads. This load may include seated, hybrid, and online classes with day and evening course assignments which may include courses at any campus location or at any area high school. The position will be based on the Henderson County campus.

What You'll be Doing
- Maintain mastery and currency in the field of Psychology.
- Market, recruit and retain students in all college transfer programs
- Advising students in the areas of AA, AS, and AFA degree programs.
- Perform record keeping function in the areas of assessment, attendance and student performance in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
Additionally
- Participate in a wide variety of extra-curricula committee and campus support functions to include: scholarships, grants, campus marketing, accreditation, inter-institutional and system cooperative programs.
- Program planning and support of Institutional Effectiveness plan.
- Maintain working relationships with all college employees while at the same time demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Must have Master’s Degree in Psychology or a master’s degree in a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in Psychology. The ability to teach in another discipline in the Humanities or Social/Behavioral Sciences is highly desired.
Experience: A minimum of two years teaching experience, or relevant professional experience in a work-place setting or demonstrated instructional/teaching environment.

- Flexible schedule- is available in the evenings and on weekends as needed.

Physical Demands
The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
