The Weatherization Assistant is responsible for assisting in the daily management and operation of the Weatherization Assistance Program. This position supports program compliance, contractor coordination, caseload management, and client eligibility to ensure services are delivered in accordance with program guidelines, budget requirements, and regulations.
Specific Job Duties
- Assist with the daily management of the Weatherization Assistance Program, including:
- File documentation and content
- Client eligibility determination
- Accurate completion of all required WAP forms
- Coordination with contractors
- Management of caseloads in compliance with program budgets and regulations
- Assist with coordinating the activities of field staff.
- Review pre-estimated material costs for each job and assist with managing contract caseloads by priority and cost estimates.
- Maintain contact with contractors to ensure quality of work, adherence to schedules, and proper handling of vendor invoices for special order items.
- Attend Weatherization Assistance Program training sessions to remain informed of program changes and support continued professional development.
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to work with low-income individuals and families.

Education
- Associate’s degree required.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in weatherization assistance, housing rehabilitation, or related energy efficiency programs required.
- Experience with program documentation, file management, or administrative support in a regulated or compliance-based environment preferred.
- Experience working with low-income individuals or families in a human services or housing-related setting preferred.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, vendors, or field staff preferred.
Certificates & Licenses
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with agency and insurance requirements
Other Requirements
- Must have full-time use of a personal vehicle
- Ability to travel locally as required
- Knowledge of the local service area preferred
- Must successfully pass a criminal background check
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening

- Must be able to work in multiple locations with a base location in Burke County, NC, may have use of a company vehicle.
